Strawbridge, Operational Safety Project Manager at DFRS comments:
"Now, fire and command officers can access critical emergency
information on the Tempus system and print out the relevant pages
on the PocketJet to help them make decisions while actually at
the scene of the emergency." |

Fire
Engines Take Pentax PocketJet Onboard
Challenge:
For any fire
brigade, incident support is always a logistical challenge. All
fire services have a pressing need for accurate, timely and relevant
information if they are to do their jobs effectively and safely,
the difficulties imposed by great distances and radio communications.
Firemen always bring a report to an incident, but paper reports
can get damaged, misfiled or lost in the heat of an emergency.

Application:
Pentax PocketJets tested in fire engines enabled on the spot
printing of key information: building plans, access points and
water services.

Solution:
The Devon Fire
Brigade wanted information electronically available in the cabs
of their fire engines. They equipped 15 of their 115 fire vehicles
with Tempus VMDS touch screen computers and Pentax PocketJet printers.
The ability to print out relevant building information at the
scene of an emergency, sometimes in extreme conditions, was critical
and could mean the difference between life and death for attending
fire fighters. On those occasions, the direct thermal printing
of the Pentax PocketJet made the difference. |
