Solution:
RAC decided
to standardize the inspection process by going digital with
Casio PA2400 hand-held PCs and giving field workers a portable
data-capture unit that could print out paper copies of inspections
under a wide range of adverse conditions. This is where the
Pentax PocketJet outperformed others, being robust, inexpensive
to operate and compact. Because the Pentax PocketJet uses direct
thermal printing, it produces clean, high quality printing with
no mess or expensive ink dyes unlike thermal transfer printers.
After a
half-day of training, inspectors were up and running with the
new, automated system. A recent RAC survey of its Inspectors
reported a 95% satisfaction rating - up from 75% the previous
year, proving the efficiency of the new system.
