There are now TWO different EPOC drivers on the driver CD.
1) EPOC5 (ER5) devices such as Psion Series 5.
2) EPOC6 (ER6.0) devices, which only include the Nokia 92xx Communicator phones.
Be sure to use the appropriate set of instructions below depending on your device.
A. On ER5 devices such as the Psion Series 5
1. Make sure that "Remote Link" is turned OFF. To do this, go to System: File Menu: Tools :Remote Link and select "Off". If this is not allowed, make sure that Comms is not open. To do this, go to System: Documents: Comms: File Menu and select "Close".
2. Open the document to Print
3. Tap on "Print"
4. Tap on "Setup" and choose "Printer"
5. Tap on "Printer"
6. On the "Printer setup" dialog, use "To" to choose the desired printer model
7. On the "Printer setup" dialog, select "Properties" to modify "Print density" and "Paper eject mode". Note that Density is specified as 0-250 in increments of 25. 250 is the darkest.
8. On the "Printer Setup" dialog, use "Via" to select the port. For PocketJet 3/3Plus, you may only choose “Infrared”. For PocketJet II/200, you may select either “Infrared” or “Serial”.
9. If the port is "Serial", choose "Settings" to modify the serial port setup. Be sure the "Baud Rate" is 57600, "Data Bits" is 8, "Stop Bits" is 1, "Parity" is None. In "Serial Handshake", choose XON/XOFF if using either the Pentax serial cable version 1 or version 2. If you have version 2, then you can also choose "RTS/CTS". In either case, make sure that ONLY 1 of these choices is selected and all other choices are unchecked.
B. On ER6.0 devices such as Nokia 92xx Communicator
1. Press the “Extras” key
2. Select the “Control Panel” ICON and press the Enter key
3. Select the “PocketJet” ICON and press the Enter key
4. All 4 PocketJet printer models are controlled separately by this same applet. Be sure to select the appropriate printer model. The property sheet has the following controls: Density, Paper Eject Mode, Extra Feed (for use with No Feed mode), and “Print using” to select the port. Each printer will maintain different settings.
5. In addition to the main property sheet, there is also a property sheet called “Remote Link”. When using the Serial cable, it may be necessary to turn the Remote Link OFF in order to print. However, in order to synchronize with the PC, you must turn this Remote Link back ON. When using the Infrared cable, it is NOT necessary to modify this Remote Link setting.
6. NOTE: The “Advanced Settings” button is used to control the port settings. There is a different set of settings depending on whether the port is configured for Serial or Infrared. For Infrared settings, just leave the control set to “default”. For the Serial Port settings, on the “Handshake” screen, it is very important that ONLY the Xon/Xoff says “Yes” and all the others say “No”. On the “General” screen, make sure that the settings are 57600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, “None” Parity. On the “Advanced” screen, set the “Port Buffer Size” to 16 if you experience problems.
7. Make all desired changes and press the “Done” button. Now, all settings made here will be used when printing from any application to the appropriate PocketJet printer model.
