Accessing Custom Features in PalmOS Apps

StevensCreek PalmPrint

1.    Start PalmPrint

2.    Select Printer Type

·      PocketJet 200: Select “PocketJet 200” as the driver

·      PocketJet 3/3Plus: Select “PocketJet 3” as the driver

·      Note: The “PocketJet 200” driver may also be used with the PocketJet 3 printer. However, it will likely print much slower than the “PocketJet 3” driver. But, you may use this driver if you happen to have problems using the standard PocketJet 3 driver, or if you prefer to use the fonts supplied with PalmPrint instead of using the PocketJet 3 printer’s internal fonts.

3.    Select Port

·      PocketJet 200: Select Baud Rate as 57600 if using the Serial cable, or “Infrared (fast)” if using the Infrared cable

·      PocketJet 3/3Plus: Select “IrComm”

4.    Choose “More Settings”

·      Options on the “More Settings” screen include choosing the Chars/Line, Lines/Page, Left(Right) and Top (Bottom) margins. These are used to define the page size and margins.

·      Be sure that both the “Auto-detect IR Printers” and “Use CTS Transmit Flow Control” are checked ON.

·      PalmPrint also allows users to choose the desired Font typeface (Courier, Times, Helvetica), its point size (12, 10, 9), and Bold On/Off. When using the PocketJet 200 driver, the font controls accurately describe the font that is printed. However, when using the PocketJet 3/3Plus printer, the results are different since it uses the printer’s internal fonts, and the printers font choices do not map 1-to-1 with the choices available in PalmPrint.

·      Font Mapping for PocketJet 3/3Plus:

PalmPrint -> PocketJet3/3plus

----------------------------------------

Cour 9 point -> 15 CPI serif

Cour 10 point -> 12 CPI serif

Cour 12 point -> 10 CPI serif

Times 9 point-> 15 CPI serif (same as Cour9)

Times 10 point-> proportional serif

Times 12 point-> 10 CPI serif (same as Cour12)

Helv 9 point -> 15 CPI sans-serif

Helv 10 point -> proportional sans-serif

Helv 12 point -> 10 CPI sans-serif

Notice that 2 of the 9 choices are duplicated, so only 7 of the 8 fonts available in the printer are being used. The one that is missing is "12-CPI Sans Serif". If you prefer to allow this particular font, please contact Pentax Technical Support and we can request that StevensCreek make a change to the software.
